Rayon Sports has resolved its contractual dispute with goalkeeper Drissa Kouyaté after reaching an agreement with the Malian player, a move the club says will help address concerns that had led to its inclusion on FIFA’s list of clubs restricted from signing new players.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the club confirmed that the issue between the two parties had been resolved through mutual understanding and that the relevant documents had been submitted to FIFA as proof of the settlement.
Rayon Sports said Kouyaté remains part of the team and has resumed his duties as normal, adding that there is no longer any dispute between the club and the goalkeeper.
The development comes after reports emerged that FIFA had imposed a transfer ban on Rayon Sports for three registration windows following a complaint filed by Kouyaté over the termination of his contract.
The goalkeeper had claimed that the club ended their agreement before the expiry of his two-year deal, prompting him to seek compensation.
Kouyaté joined Rayon Sports last season with hopes of strengthening the club’s goalkeeping department but struggled to establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper before an injury setback further affected his progress.
The club later made changes to its goalkeeping options, signing Kwizera Olivier in January 2026 before bringing in Cameroonian goalkeeper Dande Junior. Kwizera subsequently declined to extend his contract with the club.
Rayon Sports is currently preparing for its annual Rayon Day event scheduled for Saturday, July 18, at Kigali Pele Stadium, where it will face Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC in a pre-season friendly match.
