A man suspected of attempting to break into Inganji SACCO in Nyamyumba Sector, Rubavu District, was shot dead by a security guard during the incident, police said.
The incident happened during the night of September 11-12 when the man allegedly attempted to climb over the SACCO’s perimeter wall.
SP Sylvestre Twajamahoro, Rwanda National Police spokesperson for the Western Province, confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
“Yes, it happened. A security guard shot a person who was climbing over the wall of the microfinance SACCO. The relevant authorities are still investigating to establish the circumstances of the incident. We will provide more information once the investigation establishes what happened,” Twajamahoro said.
Police said more information will be released once the investigation sheds light on what happened.
