Rwanda’s Under-15 national team will make its debut at the FIFA World Cup & Festival 2026 after learning the group and opponents it will face at the inaugural tournament.
Rwanda has been drawn into Group Y alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Vanuatu, Albania, Turks & Caicos Islands and Mauritania.
The groups were announced on September 18, 2026, with the tournament scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 22 to 31.
Organised by FIFA, the tournament aims to give young players an opportunity to meet and compete at international level, regardless of their countries’ standing in football.
A total of 191 countries will participate in the inaugural edition, with the teams divided into 32 groups.
Each participating team will travel with 14 players, including those born in 2011 and 2012, as well as up to six officials and accompanying staff.
Matches will be played with eight players per team and will consist of two 20-minute halves.
Ten matches are scheduled to be played each day, with the tournament set to feature a total of 1,000 matches.
Rwanda will now step up preparations for the competition, with its attention turning to its Group Y opponents: Côte d’Ivoire, Vanuatu, Albania, Turks & Caicos Islands and Mauritania.
