Rwandan international Uwiringiyimana Ange has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2026 Women’s Amstel Basketball League playoffs in Burundi after an impressive campaign with Les Hippos.
Uwiringiyimana earned the individual honour despite Les Hippos missing out on the league title after losing the championship series to Dynamo WBBC.
Dynamo secured the championship after edging Les Hippos 64-63 in Game 6 to win the best-of-seven series 4-2.
The defeat ended Les Hippos’ title hopes, but Uwiringiyimana’s performances throughout the playoffs earned her the MVP award in recognition of her contribution to the team’s strong run.
She was also awarded 500,000 Burundian francs for winning the individual prize.
Uwiringiyimana’s recognition adds another achievement to the growing list of Rwandan basketball players making an impact in regional leagues.
Her MVP award comes despite Les Hippos finishing as runners-up, underlining her individual impact during the playoffs.
