Gisagara VC have completed the signing of South Sudanese opposite hitter James Achuil from East African University Rwanda (EAUR VC).

Achuil signed a two-year contract with Gisagara VC on Friday, September 11, becoming the third Rwandan club he will represent in the national league, following EAUR VC and Police VC.

Considered one of the top players in his position in Rwanda, Achuil also featured for APR VC in the 2026 CAVB Men’s Club Championship, which was hosted in Rwanda.

The South Sudan international joins Gisagara VC as a replacement for Niyogusubizo Samuel, popularly known as Tyson, who moved to Kirehe VC after his contract expired.

Tyson has returned to Kirehe VC, a club he previously played for eight years ago, having last represented the team in 2018.

Meanwhile, EAUR VC moved quickly to replace Achuil by signing Ugandan international Iga Mohammed from KCCA. Iga had spent the previous two seasons with the Ugandan club.

The Uganda international has signed a one-year contract with an option for an extension.

Iga is also no stranger to Rwanda’s volleyball league. He previously played for EAUR VC and was also brought in by REG VC for the Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT), held in June this year to commemorate the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
