Paul Kagame attended the UEFA Champions League semifinal between Arsenal FC and Atlético Madrid, which ended in a 1–1 draw on Wednesday evening in Madrid.
The match at Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium saw Arsenal take the lead in the 44th minute through a Viktor Gyökeres penalty, before Atlético Madrid equalised in the 56th minute via a spot-kick converted by Julián Álvarez.
President Kagame attended the high-profile fixture alongside other officials and football stakeholders, in support of Rwanda’s long-standing “Visit Rwanda” partnership with both European clubs.
The collaboration, which features branding on team kits and global marketing platforms, is aimed at positioning Rwanda as a leading tourism and investment destination.
Officials say the partnership continues to strengthen Rwanda’s international visibility, particularly among global football audiences following elite competitions such as the UEFA Champions League.
