President Paul Kagame has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, where he is taking part in the Africa Forward Summit alongside more than 25 Heads of State and Government from across Africa.

The high-level summit, bringing together African countries and France, is being held in Kenya from May 11 to 12, 2026, and focuses on strengthening cooperation in innovation, investment, and inclusive economic development.

Organisers say the meeting is expected to gather over 30 Heads of State and Government and more than 1,500 investors, reflecting growing interest in Africa’s economic transformation agenda.

On Thursday evening, participating leaders attended a high-level official dinner hosted by William Ruto, which was also attended by Emmanuel Macron.

First launched in 1973 in Paris, the Africa Forward Summit—formerly known as the France-Africa Summit—is being held in an English-speaking country for the first time since its inception.

This year’s edition is convened under the theme of promoting innovation and shared prosperity as key drivers of Africa’s long-term economic growth.
