Kepler VC and KPC WVC crowned champions of GMT 2026

Kenya Ports Authority Women Volleyball Club (KPC WVC) and Kepler Volleyball Club (Kepler VC) have won the women’s and men’s titles respectively at the 2026 Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament (GMT).

The tournament concluded on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after three days of competition featuring top clubs from Rwanda and the region.

In the women’s final, KPC WVC of Kenya delivered a dominant performance to defeat APR WVC 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15), claiming the title previously held by Police WVC.

In the men’s final, Kepler VC secured the championship with a straight-sets victory over APR VC, winning 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-21) in a tightly contested match.

Police VC finished third in the men’s category after beating REG VC 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 29-27), while Police WVC secured bronze in the women’s category following a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kepler WVC (25-21, 23-25, 12-25, 25-13, 15-11).

Individual awards highlighted standout performances throughout the tournament. In the men’s category, APR VC’s Hamid Ibrahim was named Best Server, Kepler VC’s Kageruka Cedric Best Receiver, Marino Oboke Best Setter, and Dusenge Wicklif Best Attacker. Kanamugire Prince (APR VC) was awarded Best Blocker, while Niyigena Jules was named Best Libero. Dusenge Wicklif was also voted Most Valuable Player (MVP).

In the women’s category, KPC WVC dominated the awards list. Marian Sokoiyo was named MVP and Best Blocker, while Binta Bah Fatoumata (Kepler WVC) won Best Server, Mukandayisenga Benitha (APR WVC) Best Receiver, Emmaculate Nekesa Best Setter, Veronica Adhiambo Best Attacker, and Sharon Arusei Best Libero.
