The Rwanda National Police has announced that 1,697 personnel, including police officers and members of the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), have completed the fourth cohort of the Basic Police Special Forces course focused on security operations and counter-terrorism.
The three-month training was conducted at the Counter-Terrorism Training Center (CTTC) in Mayange, Bugesera District. Among the graduates were 312 female officers and 38 officers from the Rwanda Correctional Service.
The training equipped participants with advanced skills in weapons handling and marksmanship, combat drills, public order management during demonstrations, tactical movement in complex environments, and planning and execution of specialized security operations.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano, who commended the trainees for their discipline, resilience, and commitment throughout the course.
He urged them to apply the acquired skills professionally in their respective duties, emphasizing the importance of discipline, integrity, and continuous improvement in safeguarding national security.
CP Sano also stressed that national security requires dedication, teamwork, and continuous capacity building to effectively respond to emerging security challenges. He further noted that the achievements of the Rwanda National Police are rooted in strong leadership and citizen-centered policing.
