Al Hilal SC Omdurman produced a ruthless attacking performance to thrash Gicumbi FC 5-0 on matchday 23 of the Rwanda Premier League at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The emphatic victory comes as a strong response from Al Hilal, who had fallen 3-1 to Mukura Victory Sports in their previous outing in Huye. The Sudanese side is also gearing up for a high-stakes CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg against RS Berkane on March 13 in Morocco.
Under head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf, Al Hilal named a strong starting XI featuring players well acquainted with Rwandan football, including Jean Claude Girumugisha, Adama Coulibaly and Abdelrazig Omer Taha.
The visitors set the tone early, controlling possession and pressing high. Their breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Abdelrazig Omer Taha finished off a well-crafted move, converting Girumugisha’s precise assist to put Al Hilal ahead.
Gicumbi struggled to regain composure, and in the 29th minute Mohamed Yousif doubled the advantage after reacting quickest to a rebound inside the box.
Al Hilal maintained relentless pressure and extended their lead to 3-0 just before halftime. Girumugisha, instrumental throughout the first half, beat his marker and delivered a pinpoint cross that Kamaradini Mamudu headed home.
Despite a more organised start to the second half from Gicumbi, the gulf in quality remained evident. Substitute Ousmane Diouf capitalised on defensive hesitation in the 71st minute to make it 4-0.
Four minutes later, Coulibaly sealed the rout with a composed low finish from Steven Ebuela’s cross, capping a commanding team performance.
Al Hilal created further chances but were unable to add to the tally. At full time, Gicumbi had conceded five unanswered goals in one of the most one-sided fixtures of the round, while Al Hilal sent a clear statement ahead of their continental assignment.
