Bralirwa Plc has renewed and expanded its sponsorship of Rwanda’s basketball federation, FERWABA, through its energy drink brand Cheetah Energy. The new four-year deal, worth Rwf 700 million, runs from 2026 to 2029, replacing the previous three-year agreement valued at Rwf 240 million.
Under the partnership, Bralirwa will contribute Rwf 175 million annually to support national competitions, including the Rwanda Basketball League, second division league, and playoffs.
FERWABA President Desire Mugwiza said the deal will strengthen basketball, nurture young talent, and enhance professionalism in the sport. “This partnership is a major step for Rwandan basketball, providing opportunities for players, teams, and the entire basketball community,” he said.
Bralirwa CEO Ethel Emma-Uche added, “We are proud to continue supporting basketball, a sport that unites communities and inspires youth, and we are confident this partnership will elevate the game in Rwanda over the next four years.”
FERWABA views the deal as a critical milestone in growing the league, increasing youth participation, and raising the standard of basketball nationally.
