Minister of Infrastructure Dr. Jimmy Gasore is representing President Paul Kagame at the Africa We Build Summit 2026, underway in Nairobi, Kenya, a high-level forum focused on accelerating the continent’s infrastructure-led transformation.
The two-day summit, held from April 23 to 24, 2026, is convened by the African Finance Corporation (AFC) in partnership with the Government of Kenya under the theme: “Infrastructure as a Driver of Industrialization.”
The meeting brings together African leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners to advance the shift from project discussions to implementation, with a strong emphasis on mobilizing financing for large-scale regional infrastructure, including rail networks and transport corridors linking key ports across the continent.
Central to the discussions is the role of infrastructure in driving African industrialization, particularly through value addition to raw materials before export, and strengthening regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
According to Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA), the summit provides a strategic platform for engagement with global investors and partners, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development that supports economic transformation and social progress across Africa.
“The forum offers a key opportunity to engage leaders, investors, and partners in strengthening cooperation and fast-tracking infrastructure projects that drive economic and social transformation on the continent,” MININFRA noted.
The summit has attracted several African heads of state, including Kenyan President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, alongside senior government officials, investors, and economic experts.
Participants are expected to review the 2026 Africa Infrastructure Report and explore practical pathways to close Africa’s infrastructure financing gap and accelerate implementation of priority continental projects.
