Ruhumuriza James, popularly known as King James in Rwanda’s music industry, has officially confirmed that he will stage a major concert at BK Arena.
On the evening of Saturday, March 14, 2026, the singer took to his social media platforms to share a teaser poster announcing his upcoming show titled 20 Years of King James, marking two decades of his music career.
The concert is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at BK Arena. The event is being organized with the support of Intore Entertainment, a company known for producing major concerts in Rwanda, including Nigerian star Davido’s show in Kigali in 2025.
King James had earlier, on March 8, 2026, announced plans to hold a concert celebrating 20 years in music and called on his fans to attend in large numbers.
News that the celebrated singer will headline a major show at BK Arena has been welcomed with excitement by fans and followers of Rwandan music, many saying they are eager to attend and support one of the country’s most consistent artists over the past two decades.
As a child, King James dreamed of becoming a businessman, believing it would be a profitable career. However, in 2006, at the age of 16 and while completing his second year of secondary school, he discovered his passion for music and released his first song, Niwowe Nkunda. The track did not gain much recognition at the time, discouraging him and prompting a temporary break from music.
He returned to the industry in 2008 with a collaboration with Danny Nanone titled Akamunani. Following the release, friends including producer Lick Lick encouraged him to continue, saying he had the potential to become a strong artist.
King James later released his first solo song, Intinyi, followed by Naratomboye, which helped him gain wider recognition in Rwanda’s music scene.
Over the past two decades, King James has released numerous popular songs and several albums, including Umugisha, Umuvandimwe, and Biracyaza. He has also won multiple accolades, including the Salax Awards and the Primus Guma Guma Superstar competition.
