The Chief of Reserve Forces, Maj Gen Alex Kagame, has called on reserve personnel from the districts of Huye, Gisagara, Nyamagabe, Nyanza, and Nyaruguru in the Southern Province to continue driving local development initiatives and ensuring security in the communities where they live.
He delivered the message during a consultative meeting aimed at exchanging ideas, addressing emerging challenges, and sharing updates on Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) projects, particularly those designed to improve the welfare of reserve members.
Maj Gen Kagame commended the Reserve Forces for their discipline and their ongoing contribution to community development.
He reminded them of the importance of self-reliance, urging them to proactively seek solutions to poverty rather than rely solely on government support.
He further praised their exemplary conduct within their communities and encouraged them to maintain high discipline and avoid actions that could trigger RDF intervention.
Maj Gen Kagame emphasized that, although many are retired, they still carry the responsibility of protecting the security of the areas where they live and ensuring nothing compromises community safety.
This meeting followed a similar one held in Muhanga District on November 28, 2025, organized to strengthen collaboration between Reserve Forces leadership and former military personnel, enhance dialogue, and ensure that emerging issues are well understood and addressed.
