Patriots BBC have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026 Rwanda Basketball League playoffs with the signing of American forward Noel Obadiah Arthur, who is better known as Mutabazi from his previous stint with APR BBC.
The club confirmed the arrival of the 27-year-old on Wednesday, July 29, as they look to boost their chances of competing for the league title.
Obadiah is a familiar figure in Rwandan basketball, having joined APR BBC in 2024 to feature in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He quickly became a fan favourite after a series of decisive performances that earned him the nickname Mutabazi.
He returned to APR BBC the following season and played a key role as the team secured third place in the BAL, becoming the best-performing Rwandan side in the tournament at the time before RSSB Tigers BBC claimed the continental title this year.
The American forward has also played in the United States’ NBA G League, featuring for teams including Raptors 905, Westchester Knicks and Indiana Mad Ants after going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Obadiah joins a Patriots BBC roster that already features several key players, including Jeffery Tyrone Stubbs, Damaria Franklin, Hubert Sage Kwizera, Gabra Chingka Kennedy and Bruno Shema.
Patriots BBC finished second in the regular season standings behind APR BBC and will face third-placed REG BBC in the playoff semifinals.
The 2026 Rwanda Basketball League playoffs will tip off on August 5.
