President Kagame attends 2026 World Cup Draw in Washington, D.C.

President Paul Kagame was among the global leaders who attended the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup match fixtures.

The ceremony took place at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., bringing together high-level international leaders and partners.

In a statement posted on X, the Office of the President (Village Urugwiro) said President Kagame “met with various world leaders and partners during the 2026 World Cup draw event.”

The statement added that Rwanda is one of the eight countries selected to host the 2026 FIFA Series, an international initiative that brings together men’s and women’s national teams to play competitive matches outside their usual confederation formats.

Alongside Rwanda, the other host nations for the FIFA Series 2026 are Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico and Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, the inaugural women’s edition of the tournament will take place in Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire and Thailand.
