President Kagame receives Nigeria’s President Tinubu for talks on strengthening bilateral ties

President Paul Kagame on May 13, 2026, received President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at Village Urugwiro, where the two leaders held discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Rwanda and Nigeria.

The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, energy, and security, as both countries explore new avenues for deepening economic and political collaboration.

President Tinubu arrived in Kigali earlier on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and was received at Kigali International Airport by Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda.

His visit comes ahead of the Africa CEO Forum, scheduled to take place at the Kigali Convention Centre from May 14 to 15, 2026, bringing together African heads of state, government officials, and leading private sector players.

The forum is expected to focus on strategies to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation, with discussions on large-scale infrastructure development, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), industrialisation, and strengthening economic sovereignty across the continent.
