Rayon Sports F.C. secured a comfortable 2–0 victory over second-division side City Boys F.C. in the first leg of the Peace Cup round of 16 on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Kigali Pele Stadium.

City Boys hosted the encounter as they sought to upset the top-flight outfit, but Rayon Sports’ superior experience and quality proved decisive.

Coming off two consecutive wins in the Rwanda Premier League, Rayon entered the fixture in high spirits. Head coach Bruno Ferry rotated his squad, offering starting roles to several fringe players, including goalkeeper Ishimwe Patrick, Rushema Chris, Ntarindwa Aimable, Ganijuru Elie, Tony Kitoga, Fall Ngagne and Aziz Bassane.

Rayon dominated possession from the outset, controlling the tempo and creating multiple scoring opportunities.

The breakthrough arrived in the 32nd minute when striker Fall Ngagne ended a 361-day goal drought—largely caused by a long-term knee injury—by heading home a rebound after an initial attempt by Kabange had been parried by the goalkeeper.

Despite continued pressure and several missed chances, including opportunities for Kitoga and Bassane, Rayon went into the break leading 1–0.

City Boys showed renewed determination after halftime, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. However, Rayon’s defensive organization and midfield control limited clear-cut chances.

Ngagne sealed the win in the 66th minute, heading in a well-delivered cross from midfielder Ndayishimiye Richard to complete his brace.

With a two-goal cushion, Rayon slowed the pace, focusing on game management while entertaining their supporters.

The two sides will meet again at Kigali Pele Stadium on February 24, 2026, for the decisive second leg.

Rayon Sports now shift focus back to league action, where they are scheduled to host Mukura Victory Sports F.C. on February 21 at the same venue.
