Rwanda is participating in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) taking place in Davos, Switzerland, where global leaders are gathering to discuss economic growth, technological transformation and emerging global challenges.

The forum, which opened on January 19, 2026, has brought together more than 3,000 participants from 130 countries, including 56 heads of state and government, over 400 senior government officials, and leaders from the private sector, civil society and academia.

Rwanda’s delegation is led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, who said the meeting provides an important platform for advancing Rwanda’s economic diplomacy and strengthening partnerships.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ambassador Nduhungirehe held discussions with Tom Fletcher, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. Their talks focused on humanitarian and security challenges affecting the Great Lakes region, where instability has continued to pose risks to civilians and regional cooperation.

Speaking to Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), Nduhungirehe said Rwanda’s participation at WEF allows the country to share its development experience and attract strategic partnerships, particularly in technology and investment.

The Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, also held high-level engagements at the forum, including talks with Kate Kallot, Chief Executive Officer of Kenya-based technology firm Amini. Discussions centered on strengthening digital infrastructure and expanding the use of artificial intelligence to support data-driven development and innovation.

The World Economic Forum, held annually in Davos-Klosters, is widely regarded as one of the most influential global platforms for dialogue on economic policy, innovation and global governance. It brings together political leaders, business executives and experts to examine major global risks and explore collaborative solutions.

Analysts say Rwanda’s presence at this year’s forum underscores its growing profile as a regional hub for technology, innovation and investment, and reflects Kigali’s broader strategy of using global platforms to advance economic transformation and regional stability.
