Justin Nsengiyumva arrived in Uganda on Monday to represent Paul Kagame at the swearing-in ceremony of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The Rwandan Prime Minister landed in Kampala ahead of the ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Museveni is expected to officially begin a new term after securing victory in Uganda’s presidential election held on January 15, 2026.
According to the official results announced earlier this year, Museveni won 7,946,772 votes, representing 71.65% of the total ballots cast.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, a venue commonly used for major national celebrations and state functions in Uganda’s capital.
Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986, is set to begin his seventh term as President.
Following the announcement of the election results, President Kagame congratulated Museveni on his re-election and wished him success as he continues leading Uganda’s development agenda.
Kagame also extended his best wishes to the people of Uganda as the country begins another presidential term under Museveni’s leadership.
The ceremony is expected to attract regional leaders, government officials, diplomats and invited guests from across Africa and beyond.
