Rwanda has officially secured the right to host the CAVB Men’s Club Championship, one of Africa’s premier men’s volleyball tournaments, featuring the continent’s top club teams.

The agreement was signed on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Kigali Convention Centre by Raphaël Ngarambe, President of the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), and Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB).

The championship is scheduled to take place in Kigali from April 20 to May 3, 2026. Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, said Rwanda is fully prepared to host players and fans, highlighting the tournament as a major step toward developing volleyball nationally and across Africa.

This will be the 12th edition of the championship held in sub-Saharan Africa; the last time it was hosted in the region was in 2007 in Niger, won by Algeria’s MC Alger. Of the 46 editions to date, only four titles have been claimed by clubs from sub-Saharan Africa.

Rwanda will field three teams: APR VC, Police VC, and Kepler VC. Top African clubs, including Al Ahly of Egypt, the continent’s most decorated club with 16 titles, and Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia, will also compete.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, technology will support officiating and gameplay analysis, marking a new era in African club volleyball.
