A contingent of Rwandan Police officers preparing to serve in a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Bangassou, in the Central African Republic, has received a pre-deployment briefing and guidance ahead of their departure.
The briefing was delivered on March 10, 2026, by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, CP Vincent Sano, at the Rwanda National Police Headquarters in Kacyiru.
In his remarks, CP Sano reminded the officers that previous Rwandan contingents serving in peacekeeping missions had upheld the country’s reputation through discipline and professionalism. He urged them to build on that legacy and perform their duties with dedication.
He also emphasized that they will serve as ambassadors of Rwanda and encouraged them to work collaboratively and maintain high professional standards throughout their deployment.
Rwanda began deploying police officers to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic in 2014.
Currently, Rwanda has four police contingents serving under the UN mission in the country: RWAFPU-1 and the Police Support Unit (PSU) stationed in the capital Bangui, RWAFPU-2 based in Kaga-Bandoro, and RWAFPU-3 operating in the city of Bangassou.
