Rwandan Special Forces complete 22-week counterterrorism training

Soldiers and officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Special Operations Force (SOF) have successfully completed a 22-week counterterrorism training program.

The graduation ceremony was held on Friday at the Gako Military Academy in Bugesera District, attended by senior RDF officials. Maj. Gen. Vincent Nyakarundi, Commander of the Ground Forces, presided over the event on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff.

The Ministry of Defence said the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of SOF personnel to respond rapidly to security threats, conduct counterterrorism operations, and carry out hostage rescue missions.

Maj. Gen. Nyakarundi commended instructors for their professionalism and dedication, while praising the graduating soldiers for their discipline and commitment. He urged them to apply their newly acquired skills in future operations to protect civilians and national security.
