Brig. Gen. Franco Rutagengwa has called on Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) to maintain discipline, professionalism, and strong adherence to Rwanda Defence Force values while carrying out their duties.
Brig. Gen. Rutagengwa, who commands multinational forces in Bangui and oversees the Rwandan contingent in the Central African Republic, made the remarks on Thursday during a visit to Rwanda Battle Group VIII and the Rwanda Level 2+ Hospital deployed in Bria, in the country’s northeastern region.
He was received by Col. Dr. Christian Mukwesi, Commander of the Rwanda Level 2+ Hospital, and Lt. Col. David Ngabonziza, Commander of Rwandan forces stationed in Bria.
During the visit, Brig. Gen. Rutagengwa commended the troops for their service and emphasized that professionalism, discipline, and strict compliance with MINUSCA operational guidelines remain essential to the success of the peacekeeping mandate.
He noted that upholding these values not only ensures effective mission delivery but also strengthens Rwanda’s reputation as a trusted contributor to international peacekeeping operations.
Rwanda continues to play a significant role in UN peacekeeping missions, with its forces deployed in several countries, where they are widely recognized for discipline and operational effectiveness.
