Rwanda earned more than Rwf 17 billion from agricultural and livestock exports in just five days, reflecting continued growth in the country’s export-driven agriculture sector, the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) has said.

According to NAEB’s weekly export report, Rwanda shipped 10,337 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products between June 15 and June 19, 2026, generating over Rwf 17 billion in foreign exchange earnings.

Coffee remained one of the country’s leading export earners during the period. A total of 567 tonnes were exported, bringing in Rwf 4.7 billion, with shipments reaching markets in Europe, the United States, and other international destinations.

Tea followed closely, with 937 tonnes exported and generating Rwf 3.7 billion in revenue.

In the livestock and animal products category, 506 tonnes were exported, earning Rwf 1.4 billion, largely from markets across the African continent.

Vegetable exports also recorded strong performance, with 420 tonnes valued at Rwf 770 million shipped to destinations including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and several African countries.

Fruit exports reached 268 tonnes, generating Rwf 546 million, with key markets in the United Arab Emirates, Africa, and Europe.

The report further shows that flower exports amounted to 10 tonnes, earning Rwf 90 million, mainly destined for the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Other agricultural commodities dominated export volumes, with 7,529 tonnes exported and generating Rwf 6 billion. These were mainly shipped to Oman, Italy, and various African markets.

NAEB noted that the strong performance reflects ongoing efforts to boost agricultural productivity, improve value addition, and expand Rwanda’s access to high-value international markets.
