Rwandans living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Bahrain have been assured of their safety and access to assistance, including support for those unable to return home, following escalating hostilities in the Middle East.

In a statement, the Embassy of Rwanda in the UAE called on all Rwandans residing in or visiting the UAE, as well as those in Bahrain, not to panic over the ongoing conflict in the region. The Embassy emphasized that it is closely monitoring the security situation and confirmed that Rwandan nationals in both countries remain safe.

“The Embassy continues to follow the security developments in the region very closely. All Rwandans in the UAE and Bahrain are safe,” the statement said.

The diplomatic mission further noted that it is working in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure Rwandan nationals continue to receive essential services and any necessary assistance.

Rwandans were urged to strictly adhere to security directives issued by competent authorities in their respective countries of residence.

“We advise Rwandans in these areas to comply with safety instructions provided by local authorities,” the Embassy stated.

The Embassy also called on Rwandan tourists currently stranded in the UAE due to airspace closures to register through the Embassy’s official platform to facilitate timely support and coordination.

Meanwhile, tourism authorities in the UAE have directed hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to continue accommodating stranded tourists at no additional cost following the suspension of flights. In a public notice, hotels were requested to host affected visitors until airspace restrictions are lifted.

Authorities indicated that the government would cover expenses related to the accommodation and reception of stranded tourists, easing concerns among travelers impacted by the flight disruptions.

The situation follows continued hostilities between Israel, the United States and Iran. Iran has reportedly launched retaliatory strikes targeting neighboring countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Syria and the UAE.

Several countries in the region subsequently closed their airspace after Iranian missiles and drones reportedly passed through or were intercepted over their territories, with some projectiles striking key infrastructure.

The Embassy reiterated its commitment to maintaining communication with the Rwandan community and providing updates as the situation evolves.
