President of Botswana, Duma Boko, has called for the accelerated implementation of cooperation agreements between Rwanda and Botswana, warning against delays as both countries pursue rapid development goals.
He made the remarks during talks with President Paul Kagame in Gaborone, where the Rwandan leader is on a two-day working visit.
President Boko said the meeting went beyond diplomatic formalities, describing it as an opportunity to align development priorities and strengthen practical cooperation.
He stressed that both countries must move from agreements to implementation, noting that development targets require concrete action rather than declarations.
“We did not meet just for diplomatic pleasantries. We met to realign our vision and strengthen our cooperation,” he said.
President Boko further emphasized urgency in delivering on the signed agreements, saying both countries are effectively “racing against time” in their development agendas.
He urged institutions responsible for implementation to ensure timely and efficient execution of commitments, with a focus on results and impact.
“When you are racing against time, you must understand that time does not wait for anyone. Any delay is a loss on your side,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of expanding trade and investment ties, calling for stronger economic exchanges between the two countries.
President Boko praised Rwanda’s efforts to ease mobility, including visa-free travel arrangements, saying such policies are key to boosting people-to-people contact and business opportunities.
He concluded by expressing satisfaction with the discussions, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to deepen cooperation and pursue innovative approaches to strengthen bilateral relations and deliver tangible development outcomes.
