June 23, 1994 marked the 78th day of the Genocide against the Tutsi, as killings continued across Rwanda while the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF Inkotanyi) advanced in efforts to stop the violence and rescue survivors in different parts of the country.

Rwanda’s Mufti, Sheikh Mussa Sindayigaya, has urged Muslims convicted of participating in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to sincerely repent and seek forgiveness from both God and those they harmed.

During the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR) evacuated Tutsi civilians who had been in hiding in parts of Kigali, transferring them to areas already controlled by the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi).

June 17, 1994 marked the 73rd day of the 100-day genocide against the Tutsi, and the 168th day of the year. At the time, the genocidal regime was intensifying efforts to locate and eliminate Tutsi civilians in hiding, while RPA-Inkotanyi forces continued advancing and liberating areas across the country.

The Military Medical Insurance (MMI) has donated five cows to genocide survivors in Kamonyi District as part of efforts to support their socio-economic recovery and contribute to commemoration activities marking the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

During the Genocide against the Tutsi, Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) forces on June 16, 1994 rescued about 2,000 Tutsi who were sheltering at the Saint Paul pastoral center in Kigali, as killings and fighting continued across the country.

Over 300 young members of the Rwanda Scouts Association gathered at the Nyanza-Kicukiro Genocide Memorial in Kigali for a commemoration event marking the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
